Glacial action during the last 15000 years carved these potholes and gorges along Sooke river, British Columbia.

Spring Flowers, Montgomery Hill

Is Spring here at last? Montgomery Hill is covered with yellow mustard flowers, this time of the year around!

Having arrived here a few minutes before sunset, I didn't have time to setup my usual GND filters, hence decided to bracket images instead. This is a manual exposure blend of two images, one processed for the sky and the other for the foreground.

On the Edge of Glory

Standing on the edge of the cliff, holding on to the wire railing and my tripod balanced precariously, suddenly it hit me…. "Was this the moment of truth? Could this be the most beautiful place on earth?" Words couldn't do justice to the natural beauty surrounding me….
As the pink hues from the setting sun lit up the clouds from below, everything seemed to fall in place.

I used a 2-stop GND filter to balance the light in the sky with the foreground, and the CPL filter slowed the sutter speed to a leisurely 10sec to caputre the beauty of the waves crashing into the rocks below.

We hiked down to South Falls as the last bits of sunshine was vanishing. The view was amazing with the hard rock forming a perfect background for the silvery falls dropping into the lake below. Silver falls is aptly named!

There is a small trail which goes down behind the falls - bits of it are visible in this image.

[Technical Details: An exposure of 1 second provided the right effect in the water without blowing any higlights. A single RAW file processed twice and merged - one for a warmer WB on the rocks and the other for a cooler WB for the foliage.]

Unending Horizons

A centered composition works for this image from Keywest Florida, due to the perfect symmetry in the image. Processed from multiple exposures.
